#OffbeatCLTeats: Asian Flare

Hello Charlotte! We know our beloved Queen City has no shortage of options for every spectrum of foodie craving. And with every CLT Instagram influencer sharing and reviewing all of the new restaurant openings for media days every day, it can be easy to forget about the local spots. But even the little guys need love and sometimes that hole in the wall offers the best grubs! So enter: #offbeatCLTeats!

We will be sharing at least 2-3 different restaurants with each post and tell you why it is worth your time to check them out even if they’re low profile. #DoseofCLT: Matcha in the Queen City

I love tea so matcha.  Really, just so matcha love.  Everything is just so matcha better whenever I can get myself a cup of this goodness.  If I could just start everyday with some, like is that too matcha to ask?

Under Current Coffee (2)

Alright, alright, alright.  I know y’all get it.  I’ve jumped on the matcha bandwagon and have been exploring the city’s coffee shops to get my fix since I got hooked on this stuff after our trip to NYC (which I’ve yet to still blog about!  Whoopsies!)  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still a coffee lover but getting to enjoy a cup of matcha every once in a while is a nice little change up in my routine, and I’m personally glad that the centuries old Japanese ceremonial tea has now made it here in the Queen City!  On this edition of #DoseofCLT, I’m sharing my top four picks—go check ‘em out and find out if you’re also matcha-made in heaven with this trendy, superfood.

A Charlotte (K)night!

Hotdogs and beers.  Peanuts and Cracker Jacks.  The seventh-inning stretch and belting out “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”  All the classics that you’d expect at a baseball game, but there’s more!  When you come out to see the Charlotte Knights play at the BB&T Ballpark, you’re treated to the full Queen City experience.  I mean, let’s just start with this view…

Quincy in the Queen City

Our furry littles also love exploring out and about the Queen City, and luckily for Charlotteans, there are many places that embrace having our four-legged kids around!  I mean, let’s face it.  Life is better with dogs around!

So for the inside scoop on some of the city’s dog-friendly offerings, we turned to a local native who knows the ins-and-outs of the city–Quincy, the dog! Instagram’s @Crooked.Ear.Quincy is @Kaylbee87‘s not-so-little furball who is a lab mix, busy doing doggy business, which includes going on long walks on urban greenways, hiking trails, and posing for adorable pics for his dog-mama.  In this interview, Quincy shares with us his most favorite outdoor activities and pro tips, so you and yours can also enjoy the great CLT outdoors!

The Family Beach

Longer days are here and while it’s not officially summer yet, I know the hotter weather has got you thinking about that next beach trip!  Luckily for us Charlotteans, we do have a few beach choices within at least a three and a half hour drive (or you can book a non-stop three to four-hour flight to the Caribbean…but that’s another post!)  Everyone’s heard of Myrtle Beach, also known as “The Grand Strand” or by its less favorable nicknames of “Dirty Myrtle” and “Redneck Riviera.”  Spring breakers, bikers, golfers, and families have been visiting the 60 miles of beaches for lounging, shows, shopping, and dining.  But if you’d like to avoid the touristy spots and the crowds this summer and go for some classic, family-friendly beach time, venture just twenty to thirty minutes south towards Surfside Beach, also known as “The Family Beach.”
