For the sake of making sure y’all were ready for national
day, Manny and I ventured into three different CLT neighborhoods for some of our favorite local
shops. This was purely for research purposes, so
judge us–even if you did, it was so good we
even care. So
worry, be happy–and grab yourself a single, 1/2 dozen, or dozen
s! Share or
! You do you, booboo!
First stop: Reigning Doughnuts in Noda (Corner of N. Davidson St and E. 35th St.)
First things first, the smell just down the block from this spot. Next, this charming walk-up window. I could stop here, but we did order the doughnuts and grabbed one of the Noda street benches to enjoy the yummy goodness! Ahhh, it was heavenly! For #NDD, hop in line at the walk-up window for a free truffle honey doughnut!

Second stop: Duck Donuts in Dilworth (Kenilworth Commons on East Blvd)
The donuts are also made-to-order at this joint, starting with their signature vanilla cake donut base and then you choose a coating, a topping, and a drizzle! There are a “duckzillion” combinations to create. For #NDD, they are giving away one free ‘classic’ donut (bare, cinnamon sugar, or powdered sugar donut), no purchase necessary! Plus, you’ll receive a BOGO coupon good to use before June 17.
Third stop: Suarez Bakery in Myers Park
No explanation really needed from this iconic Park Road Shopping Center spot. If you’ve not seen their pretty and perfectly iced cookies, their gorgeous cakes, or the fun Texas doughnut cakes; then you may not be on Instagram. For #NDD, they are doing BOGO donuts (limit six until they run out–which they will and EARLY!) Get there bright and early, and I dare you not to get other treats. We got tempted by the peanut butter cake slice!
For other #NDD celebrations from the big name donut shops!

Hopefully, you’ll be able to celebrate #NDD and if you
get to, you
really need a day as an excuse to treat yourself. Go for it!
